Divya’s teaching is rooted in the rigorous pedagogic transmission of Bharatanatyam, while encouraging dancers to question, investigate and find their own relationship with the form.
Fortunate to have received the best of training from various teachers and mentors over three decades, Divya strives to generously share the crux of Bharatanatyam that she has inherited, and impart the nuances of the form that she has grown to discover over the years.
Through her brainchild – KalaDiSha, she trains enthusiastic dancers to develop their technique and expand their repertoire with an embodied understanding of first principles that underpin the form.
She also offers workshops, masterclasses and intensives for performers, students and institutions across the globe, drawing from different aspects of her practice.

KalāDiShā
Regular classes for intermediate and advanced dancers.
Divya’s classes combine rigorous training in technique, with attention to musicality, lyricism, endurance and performance aesthetics. Alongside learning repertoires, dancers are encouraged to develop choreographic curiosity, musical intelligence and an understanding of why the body moves in, through and with space the way it does.

KāvyaRasā
The Poetic Essence
This unique module explores the intersection of poetry, music and dance, and is devised for artists and non-artists alike. Each chapter takes a poetic tradition as a starting point for close reading, discussion and creative exploration, asking how language, image, meaning and emotion move beyond the page.
The module is particularly interested in how artists encounter a text, what they choose to preserve, what they transform, and what becomes possible when a poem is experienced through music and movement.
